GEKO Ypres Rally

Some first reactions at the regroup of Wasquehal

Hänninen: "I don?t really have a lot of experience on tarmac and this race is really particular. I am doing everything to stay on the road and reach the finish."

Van den Heuvel: "I am really pushing but at least we manage to keep up with the S2000."

Meeke: "The roads in this area are really incredible. Grip levels change constantly but we?re trying to stay on."

Snijers: "We hit the limiter around 6500 rpm already instead of 8500 rpm. We?re losing a lot of time."

Casier says his car is sliding a tad too much and is trying to work on the issue.

Vouilloz went off after going too fast over a junction. He lost control over the car and ended up in a ditch.

Kopecky said he there has been an issue with time registration and his time was actually 1 minute better than was showing on the boards. He is happy with the car and the pace and is glad to find so many Czech fans in the Westhoek.

Tsjoen is happy with this first leg. He got to grips with the car and will try to up the pace by braking a bit later.

Schammel is still looking for the right set-up and the right pace. First time with this car is not easy.

Bruyneel is not happy as he is 1" per kilometer slower than Lietaer. He knows he should go faster but his 'off' in the Omloop still is in the back of his mind.

Lietaer is actually surprised that he is already this fast with a fairly new car. He went straight on the second stage but otherwise happy with the pace.

Tlus?tak says he is taking it slowly as he wants to reach the finish.

That being said, Lhonnay was complaining that he caught up with the Czech on stage 3 and that he did not want to move over.

Tanghe: "We wanted to set the suspension up a bit harder and we end up with a really bad result. I cannot recognize the car anymore, we have no grip. At the last T junction of stage 2, a place I know very well, the car pulled straight and we lost 3 minutes in a ditch."

Burton explains that on stage 3, he lost a lot of time. According to him the first two stages were that slippery that they lifted of on the third stage.

Baugnet complains about the handling of the car but could not figure out yet what is actually wrong with the car.

Lefevere is struggling to find the right set-up and is looking for more grip on the roads. The headroom in the car is sufficient again and he remains convinced he rolled his car in a very clean way yesterday.

Boon made a small mistake on stage 2 as his pacenotes were slightly off (they were a tad too pessimistic and he is trying to correct them).

De Cecco currently leads the Fiesta Trophy but is aware he will not be able to keep Boon behind him in the dark.

Andy Gaban is not happy with his race. He already went off twice: once to collect some corn cobs, once to take out a pole. He is really lucky to still be in the race.
