All national competitors welcome | WRC Ardeca Ypres Rally Belgium 2022

All national competitors welcome

The fifth round of the Belgian Rally Championship was held this weekend with the Sezoensrally. The next round is the Ardeca Ypres Rally, which is also a round of the FIA World Rally Championship. With three months before the start of the Ardeca Ypres Rally, the organisation emphasises that all BRC participants are welcome in the Ardeca Ypres Rally, either in the WRC competition or in the national supporting event.

"Let me be clear: all cars that have rallied in the BRC this season will also be allowed to participate in Ypres. For the non-FIA cars and the nationally homologated cars, such as the NCMs, the cars in the 2WD Trophy and the PTN-Historics, we will have a supporting event this year. The scrutineering for that rally is conducted by the RACB, according to the same rules and in the same way as in the other Belgian Championship competitions. That side event will end on Saturday evening, after 16 special stages and 230 km against the clock," says Alain Penasse.

"All the cars allowed in the FIA competition will participate in the WRC round. This means that all Rally2, Rally 3, Rally4 and Rally5s will compete in the Ardeca Ypres Rally. All GTs, including the "national" ones, will also participate. Porsches are allowed in the WRC round, and in Historic the HC4s, like the BMW M3 E30s, can also drive the WRC event."

For classifications within the Belgian Championship, for which participants would be spread over the two classes, such as the BRC Master Cup and the Historic Belgian Rally Championship, a classification is drawn up after the second day and 16 special stages.

Club Superstage wants to make the Ardeca Ypres Rally as accessible as possible for participants from the Belgian Championship, so that everyone can enjoy the top international weekend in Ypres, where the best drivers in the world will be at the startline for the second year in a row.
