Mr Ypres, Freddy Loix, aims to win the Masters
Club Superstage are working towards the Belgian round of the FIA World Rally Championship while the best drivers are recovering from a gruelling Safari Rally, won by an impressive Kalle Rovanperä. Shortly after the opening of registrations, the entries are pouring in, both for the WRC round and for the national round for the Belgian championship.
The FIA World Rally Championship will be welcomed in Ypres, but we will also see several interesting entries who have already confirmed they will be at the starting line. As expected, Davy Vanneste will defend the colors of main sponsor Ardeca with his Citroën C3 Rally2. Last year the pilot from Wervik got off to a strong start with his Citroën, but a small mistake on Friday ruined a good result. This time the winner of the Monteberg Rally and the Rally of Wervik is well prepared to show his pace in front of the world in August.
Glenn Janssens has confirmed his participation in the GTs, as has Gunther Monnens, who are the pacesetters in the Belgian championship. The Porsche 991 GT3s will undoubtedly provide a spectacle on the fast stages, providing music to the spectator’s ears. Among the fast BMW M3 E30s we see Guino Kenis, the BMW dealer who won the last Ypres Historic Regularity, another event from Club Superstage. This time Guino Kenis and Bjorn Vanoverschelde are going for pure speed
And then of course there's "Mr. Ypres", Freddy Loix. With eleven victories to his name, "Fast Freddy" is the absolute record holder of the Ypres Rally. Together with Pieter Tsjoen, the only one to win in Ypres as a pilot and as a navigator, Freddy Loix takes a shot at victory at the Masters. In that category, the duo in PTR Racing's Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo were also the fastest in the WRC round in Sardinia.
These are just a few of the best, just like local specialist Stéve Becaert and Nicola Stampaert, both with a Ford Fiesta, who are in the list of names that have already been confirmed. It is clear that we will see a full and very exciting field in the Ardeca Ypres Rally Belgium. It is a classic in the making.
Don't forget to order your tickets in time, because you should not miss this historic second WRC edition of the Ardeca Ypres Rally Belgium.
