Tänak takes the stage as Neuville extends his lead | WRC Ardeca Ypres Rally Belgium 2022

SS 19 - Stage Flash - Stavelot

Nineteen stages have been completed at the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium and now only one remains.

It was Ott Tänak in the Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT car that would master the second fun through the 9.05km Stavelot stage.

His time of 5:04.0 was 2.2 seconds faster than this morning as the drivers mention the dirty roads on the second pass.

Tänak beat his teammate and rally leader, Thierry Neuville by 0.7 of a second. The Belgian now holds a comfortable lead heading into the final stage.

Toyota GAZOO Racing WRT’s Kalle Rovenperä consolidated his podium position by taking third on stage, beating his teammate and podium rival by 1.1 seconds to put 5.0 seconds between the two rivals.

Sébastien Ogier took fifth on stage ahead of Gus Greensmith in the M-Sport Ford, Pierre-Louis Loubet’s 2C Competition Hyundai and Craig Breen. The Irish driver ran a conservative stage as he sort to ensure he would get home in second place.

Jari Huttunen holds a comfortable lead in WRC2 in his Hyundai i20 N Rally2.

Yohan Rossel continues to lead in WRC3 in his Citroën C3 Rally2 ahead of PJM Cracco. Former leader, Sébastien Bedoret’s tough final day continues after checking in one minute late on SS18 and incurring a 10 second penalty and continued to lose large chunks of time on stage.

Car #10 P.L. Loubet – F.Haut-Labourdette (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) : “ It was good. To finish on such an amazing track is enjoyable."

Car #44 G.Greensmith – C.Patterson (Ford Fiesta WRC): "I think the only reason we went a little bit quicker is because the road is a lot dirtier than it was this morning. I think after my Friday exit I'll just make sure the car comes home in one piece."

Car #8 O.Tänak – M.Järveoja (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC): "These stages here are quite tricky. The rally has been nice, compact and close to each other. Martin drove to Spa today and it has been quite fun.”

Car #1 S.Ogier – J.Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC): "That is the only target we still have so we need to finish the Powerstage well.

Car #69 K.Rovenperä – J.Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC) : “I am not sure if it is enough to keep Elfyn behind. I had a lot of understeer, much more than the first run and I was struggling.”

Car #33 E.Evans – S.Martin (Toyota Yaris WRC): "We have to go as hard we can in the Powerstage. Disappointing to lose out again.”

Car #42 C.Breen – P.Nagle (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC): "I tried to back off and be as neat and tidy as I could.”

Car #11 T.Neuville – M.Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC) : “One more stage to go. I am looking to it but it is going to be a tough one as it quite dirty in there.”
