Ypres in the FIA ERT Benelux and Celtic
Oudenaarde in the RACB Rally Criterium
Today the FIA has given the green light for the many FIA European Rally Trophies. A part of this announcement was the FIA European Rally Trophy Benelux. This calendar features three rounds, including the Renties Ypres Rally. A second round organised by Club Superstage, the Aarova Rally Oudenaarde-Kruisem will be run as a candidate event for the FIA European Rally Trophy Benelux.
The FIA European Rally Trophy Benelux opens this season with the Renties Ypres Rally. It is going to be a double-header for the ERT because Ypres also counts for the Celtic Rally Trophy (IRL and UK). The rally already counts for competitors from the in the British Rally Championship, but now there is more opportunity for Irish teams to make the crossing to the Ypres classic.
The second round on the calendar is the Rallye Lëtzebuerg (10-11 / 7) in Luxembourg. The Trophy ends with the Condroz Rally, which is also the classic closing round of the Belgian Rally Championship.
The surprise on the calendar, the Aarova Rally Oudenaarde-Kruisem. It will be held on 11 October and is a candidate event for the FIA European Rally Trophy Benelux.
"We have always had the ambition to organise a top level competition in East Flanders. The region lend itself perfectly to a top level rally and Oudenaarde has welcomed us for years," says Alain Penasse, chairman of Club Superstage. "From now on the race is on the RACB calendar as a round of the RACB Rally Criterium. The atmosphere will be enjoyed at the ceremonial start on the Market in Oudenaarde which will also be retained.”
These are four races that will certainly set a challenge for every Benelux rally driver!
